Grants Lab
The plain-language agreement between you and Grants Lab when you use our platform or ask us to do grant work for you.
Effective September 21, 2026 (draft, pending legal review) · version 2026-09-21-draft · Privacy Notice
Grants Lab is an independent Canadian grant consultancy. These terms apply whenever you use our platform (app.grantslab.ca) or engage us for any of the services below. By ticking the box that says you agree, or by starting a paid service, you accept them.
If anything here is unclear, ask before you agree: info@grantslab.ca. We answer within one business day.
We currently offer the following. Each is a defined piece of work with a fixed fee.
Every fee is fixed and stated before you commit. There are no contingency fees, success fees, or percentages of any award. You keep 100% of any funding you receive.
Funding Roadmaps and Grant Applications are invoiced when the finished work is delivered. Nothing is paid up front. Each invoice shows its own due date. [Stephanie to set the standard payment window, e.g. 15 or 30 days, before the lawyer's pass.]
If you ask for work outside the scope of a service (for example, a second program, or extra revision rounds), we agree the price together before any extra work begins.
Grant programs are competitive. We do not promise, guarantee, or predict that any application will be funded, how much will be awarded, or when a funder will decide. What you pay for is the work: careful research, a strong application, and professional judgement.
Program details such as eligibility rules, amounts, and deadlines are set by funders and change without notice. We confirm the details that matter before an application goes in, but the funder's own published terms always govern.
Our work is only as accurate as what you tell us. You agree to give us information that is true and complete, to tell us promptly if something changes, and to review what we prepare before it is submitted in your name.
You are responsible for what is submitted to a funder under your organisation's name, including the accuracy of the facts and figures in it, and for meeting any reporting or other obligations a funder attaches to an award.
We use a proprietary workflow that combines modern technology, including AI-assisted research and drafting tools, with human review and judgement. Nothing is submitted to a funder without a person having reviewed it. Facts, figures, and organisational details in your documents are checked against what you provided.
The methods, program research, and internal databases we use to find and assess funding are Grants Lab's own and remain confidential. The deliverables we prepare for you are yours to use for your organisation's funding purposes.
A Funding Roadmap is typically delivered within a week of your completed questionnaire. A Grant Application typically takes 7 to 15 days from start to submission, depending on the program and how quickly we receive what we need from you. Funder deadlines are firm; when a deadline cannot realistically be met, we will tell you rather than rush an application that would not do you justice.
You can stop at any time by telling us in writing. If you stop after work has begun, we invoice only for the work completed to that point, at a fair proportion of the fixed fee. A Funding Roadmap that has been delivered is complete and is invoiced in full.
A service also ends when its deliverable has been delivered and accepted, or when you decide to pursue the work on your own. We do not track or charge for work you do independently after that point.
We may end a service if information you gave us turns out to be untrue in a way that matters, or if an application would require us to misrepresent your organisation. We will explain why.
To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any service is limited to the fees you paid for that service. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses such as a grant not awarded, lost revenue, or lost opportunity. These limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, or gross negligence on our part, or where the law does not allow them.
How we collect, use, keep, and delete your information is set out in our Privacy Notice, which forms part of these terms.
We may update these terms. The version in force when you start a service is the one that applies to it; we will tell you if a change affects work already under way. Each version is dated and we keep a record of which version you accepted.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. The courts of Ontario have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
